Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has revealed that securing wins in the upcoming June international friendlies against Tanzania and Mozambique is not his primary objective.

Instead, Broos emphasised a different, more crucial priority for the national squad as he made it clear he won't be putting the new faces in the squad under undue pressure.

Broos said that his main goal in the upcoming international friendlies against Tanzania and Mozambique is to observe how the new players perform.

While Bafana will aim for victories in both matches, Broos believes it's crucial to see how the new additions acclimatise and perform within the national team setup.

“The performance is the most important thing," said Broos during a press conference on Monday in Polokwane. "We want to win the two games, and we will do everything to win them. But more importantly, it is the performance of the players, certainly the new players, and again, I will not put pressure on them.

"They just have to play their game, and then we will see, evaluate what we are going to do in the future.

“The opponents are not the strongest ones, but certainly not the weakest of Africa. Both countries were at the AFCON last year, so even Mozambique is in a good space to go to the World Cup next year.

“So this means there will be a good opponent in the two games, and therefore, again, I think it’s a good opportunity for everyone to prove themselves, to show their qualities.”

Bafana Bafana will first face Tanzania at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Friday, June 6, 2025. They'll then turn their attention to Mozambique at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday, June 10, 2025.
