The experienced trainer led the Miners to clinch their maiden Ghana Premier League title last term. However, their opening CAF Champions League clash against JS Kabylie ended in a 2-0 loss in Accra on Saturday, September 20.
Reports in the media have attributed the defeat to the Algerian club in the first leg Preliminary Round of the CAF Champions League loss to Frimpong Mansoโs sacking. However, a source close to the club revealed to Pan-Africa Football that the decision went beyond football reasons.
Manso, who took charge of GoldStars in December 2023, formerly managed Tano Bofoakwa. He led the club to its first ever GHALCA Top Four title, shrugging off competitions from giants, Kotoko and Hearts of Oak who they tied on 7 points at the end of the competition.
The club is expected to name an interim coach in the coming days to prepare the squad for the second leg and the resumption of the Ghana Premier League campaign.
Inside sources tell Pan-Africa Football that former Kotoko, Nsoatreman and Black Leopards coach Maxwell Konadu will take charge of the club in the interim.
GoldStars will travel to Algeria for the second leg of the CAF Champions League against JSK next weekend.
