Defenders Gomezgani Chirwa and Nickson Nyasulu have become the latest to leave FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, bringing to 11 the number of players who have left the Malawi giants.

Bullets released a statement on Monday confirming the departure of their captain Chirwa and reigning player-of-the-year Nyasulu with the players said to have followed former coach Kalisto Pasuwa to his home country of Zimbabwe.

The wingback Chirwa and Nyasulu were offered contract extensions and their exit suggests they declined such offers. The Blantyre-based team released nine players last week as new coach Peter Mponda seeks to start afresh following the exit of his predecessor Pasuwa.

Bullets have released a statement confirming the exit of Zimbabwean defender Collin Mujuru, midfielder Kenneth Pasuwa, winger Ronald Chitiyo, home-based Kesten Simbi, Matthews Masamba, Mphatso Magaleta, Precious Phiri, Thomson Magombo and Felix Dumakude.

Most released players have since signed for Zimbabwean teams with Mujuru signing for Green Fuel FC while Phiri has been linked with FC Platinum.

The 16-time Malawi league champions have since signed defender Chikumbutso Henderson from Mzuzu City Hammers, Blessings Joseph from Chitipa United and renewed contracts for goalkeeper Cedrick Mkungula, defender Blessings Mpokera and midfielder Yankho Singo.

Bullets are the record league champions of Malawi and will gun for a 17th league title when the 2025-26 season starts this March.

Silver Strikers are the defending champions after winning the championship for the first time in 11 years under the tutelage of Mponda before he left to rejoin childhood club, Bullets.
