Zambian footballers have hardly impressed in Malawi’s top-flight league over the years. That trend continues.
Malawi giants FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have parted ways with Zambian defender Dominic Musonda barely after a season which did not bear fruits.
Dominic Musonda has left Bullets after both parties reached a mutual agreement to part ways.

The record FDH Premiership champions confirmed that they had agreed mutually with the left-back to go separate ways. Coach Gilbert Chirwa-led side had an option to renew the deal of the Zambian but decided otherwise.
“FCB Nyasa Big Bullets confirms that Dominic Musonda has left the club after both parties reached a mutual agreement to part ways,” reads the statement.
“The Zambian left-back joined The People’s Team in March 2025 on a one-year deal with an option to extend for a further year, which will not be exercised.”
That Bullets have decided against extending the contract of Musonda is hardly surprising considering that he made little impact in the team, managing just 12 appearances across all competitions.
Nonetheless, he played a part in the team’s ascension to the Airtel Top 8 and Castel Challenge Cup winners’ podium. Bullets acknowledge the player’s contribution although it was minimal.
“One of Musonda’s standout moments in Bullets colours came in the Airtel Top 8 final when he converted a penalty against Silver Strikers, helping the People’s Team lift two trophies last season,” adds the statement.

Musonda became the third Zambian ever to grace Malawi’s league, joining compatriot Joseph Silungwe, who featured for Bullets at the turn of the century and Sandros Kumwenda who had a stint with Mighty Wanderers FC.
Kumwenda and Silungwe never set the scene alight as expected and their names are a distant memory in the Warm Heart of Africa.
In a separate statement, Bullets have also announced the departure of striker Bright Munthali at the end of his year-long contract on February 26, 2026.
Munthali, a surprise signing by then Bullets coach Peter Mponda, made just five appearances last season.
“His contract came to an end on 28 February 2026, with the club opting not to renew the agreement…the club thanks Bright for his commitment and professionalism during his time with the People’s Team and wishes him every success in his future endeavours,” reads the statement.
