Uganda Cranes midfielder Bobosi Byaruhanga has spoken with assured calmness and a clear sense of purpose as the team intensifies preparations for the TotalEnergies AFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco.
Reflecting on his journey through the national team ranks, the young midfielder shared insights on growth, motivation, and the profound pride of carrying the national flag on Africa’s biggest stage.
For Byaruhanga, earning a place in the final squad represents more than selection—it symbolizes years of progression and commitment through various youth and senior national team levels.
“First of all, it is a pleasure being among the players that are going to represent Uganda in AFCON. I am very happy, and having passed through the national team levels, I know what it means to be part of this team. When I am given an opportunity, I have to make sure the team can get the win.”
He revealed that his passion for the Cranes was planted early in childhood and has guided his entire footballing journey.
“When I was very young, my dream was to play for the Uganda Cranes. Ever since I was little, that has always been my dream. I have been on this team trying to qualify for AFCON.”
With qualification now achieved, Byaruhanga acknowledges the weight of the moment and the responsibility that comes with stepping onto the continental stage.
“Now it is the right time for AFCON. It is time to represent Uganda. When given the opportunity, I know what it means to play at the AFCON level. Everyone’s dream is to play AFCON because the tournament has many great players from around the world.”
He also reflected on his senior debut, a moment that shaped his early international confidence thanks to the support of experienced teammates.
“My debut was in Kenya. I was young, I never thought I was going to play. But when I was given the opportunity, the senior players motivated me—Aucho, Ochaya, Juma—they made me feel at home.”
As preparations continue in Morocco, Byaruhanga expressed gratitude for still being part of the Uganda Cranes fold.
“Up to now, I am still here in the national team.”
The Cranes will play two buildup matches as part of their final AFCON preparations:
Uganda vs FAR Rabat – 13 December 2025
Uganda vs Gabon – 17 December 2025
FAR Rabat is currently competing in the CAF Champions League, offering strong pre-tournament opposition as Uganda sharpens its readiness for the continental showdown.
