Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy says the best is yet to come from him after showing his true potential this season to emerge as the UEFA Champions League leading scorer with 13 goals.
Guirassy told his club Borussia Dortmund’s media that he was happy with his showing this Bundesliga campaign and in the UEFA Champions League, but he can do better.
"My season is going well. I'm one of the top scorers in the Bundesliga and also in the Champions League. But you can always improve. [My season] is very good. But it's no surprise to me. I know that I can be a very good goalscorer. This year I'm proving that in a major competition. I have to continue in this vein and become even more efficient," he said.
"I can't say exactly. But I love scoring goals, like all strikers. It's an intense feeling. It's something very special. I don't know if I ever did it as an opponent, but now to do so wearing the yellow jersey is special. I have a winning mentality—I always want to win. I grew up with it. Of course, it's not always possible, but you have to work for every chance."
The Guinean steered Borussia Dortmund to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, scoring a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Barcelona mid-April 2025. However, the Bundesliga side still bowed out of the continental race due to an away 4-0 loss to the La Liga leaders in Spain.
