Botola Pro: Clean sheets for Berkane and Wydad; Raja win it late

The Casablancan giants and dominant league leaders RS Berkane were in action on Sunday and RSB maintained their firm grip on the top division of Moroccan football.

Oussama Lamlioui continues to be on fire for RSB. The 29-year-old striker scored his fifth goal in as many matches to give the Orange Boys a third consecutive victory at FUS Rabat. Yassine Labhiri’s dribbling run set up an opening for Lamlioui to finish in the 11th minute and RSB allowed their strong defense to do the rest despite a red card to Youssef Zghoudi soon after the half hour mark.

Berkane are now twelve points ahead of the rest of the field after second placed Renaissance Zemamra fell to Raja Casablanca earlier in the day. El Houssine Rahimi, brother of Soufiane, scored for the third consecutive match to give Raja the lead and Adam Ennafati’s penalty kick in second half stoppage time gave Raja three points.

In the late match, Wydad Casablanca dominated Hassania Agadir in a 2-0 victory at the Stade Larbi Zouali. Giant defender Jamal Harkass opened the scoring by heading in an Ismail Moutaraji free kick before Moutaraji’s shot took a dramatic deflection into the goal early in the second half. Wydad have won four straight matches and are only one point behind second placed AS FAR.

For AS FAR, Mohamed Hrimat’s penalty kick deep into second half stoppage time completed a 3-2 victory over IR Tanger. Youssef El Fahli scored twice for the military club who sold forward Tumisang Orebonye to Libyan club Al-Ittihad Tripoli over the weekend.

The only other team to win over the weekend was COD Meknes who moved into the top ten with a 3-1 victory at Maghreb Fez. Elsewhere there were draws between Olympique Safi and Difaa El Jadida, JSS and Chabab Mohammedia and Moghreb Tetouan and Union Touarga.
