Maghreb Fez (MAS) continued their excellent 2025-26 campaign on Sunday in Morocco’s Botola Pro by handing fellow title contenders Wydad AC another defeat with a 1-0 result in Fez.
Driss El Jabali’s shocking attempt at a Rabona was executed to perfection for the only goal of the match, a suitable winner in the 80th minute. New WAC coach Patrice Carteron has now failed to win in each of his first three matches in charge, with The Red Castle only earning a solitary point.
The two teams mostly cancelled each other out at the Fez Stadium, with the first half coming and going without too many notable incidents. The attacking action picked up in the second half but visitors WAC lacked a moment of brilliance to claim victory.
But El Jabali, making his first start in 2026, showed the boldness required in such a situation. After Adam Brika chased down a lofted pass over the top on the right wing, he laid back for El Jabali to do the rest for his second goal of the season.

Maghreb Fez are now one point clear at the top of the table, ahead of AS FAR who are currently engaged in the CAF Champions League semifinals against fellow Moroccan club RS Berkane. WAC remain level on points with AS FAR but have now played one more match, and are also level with Casablanca rivals Raja.
The league, delayed by Morocco’s hosting of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, is now at its halfway point with no clear leader.
