Botswana win pre-AFCON practice match

Botswana warmed up for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a 2-1 victory over Stade Tunisien in Tunisia on Sunday.

Alphord Velaphi and Segolame Boy scored for the Zebras. Both teams fielded their strong sides.

Stade Tunisien are a strong Tunisian Professional League side currently sitting third in Ligue Professionnelle 1.

In a statement, the Botswana Football Association media says the Zebras will continue with their camp training at their Tabarka base in Tunisia ahead of the AFCON finals.

“The boys continue a well-structured series of friendly matches as part of focused preparations ahead of AFCON 2025 in Morocco. Every day matters. Every session counts,” the statement reads.

“This is about sharpness, discipline, and building momentum, step by step, match by match. The Mighty Zebras rise to the challenge once again.”

Botswana’s AFCON challenge

The Zebras head to the premier continental football showdown as among the underdogs of the 24-member competition.

Botswana will compete in Group D of the AFCON finals against Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Benin.
