Botswana begin pre-AFCON camp in Tunisia

Botswana’s delegation has started camp training in Tunisia to do final touches for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.

The Zebras are among the participating teams at the continental football panorama scheduled for Morocco from December 25 to January 18.

The decision to camp in Tunisia is meant to ensure the Zebras’ acclimatization.

In a statement, the Botswana Football Association highlighted the importance of the camp.

“The camp forms part of an organised series of international friendly matches, aimed at strengthening team performance, cohesion, and readiness ahead of the continental stage,” the statement reads.

Botswana’s leader of delegation Maokaneng Bontshetse described the camp training as an important aspect of the Zebras preparations.

Wydad Casablanca striker Tumisang Orebonye will lead the Botswana as they make their second appearance at the AFCON finals.

The Zebras were drawn in Group D at AFCON alongside Senegal, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Benin.
