Gaborone United coach Pontsho Moloi has declared that his squad is ready for Saturday’s away FNB Premiership game against Morupule Wanderers at Palapye Stadium in Botswana’s top-flight league.
Moloi said this after United squad members returned to training from a three-day break on December 28 2024 to fine-tune for the meeting against Wanderers.
"The squad looks good; everyone is raring to go. I cannot have any complaints at all. We are still waiting for three of our foreign players [Mateus Domingos, Sheikh Sesay, and Tatenda Gora] then we have a full complement," he told United’s media.
Moloi might start with Ezekiel Morake in goals for Moya-goleele with Karabo Phiri marshaling the midfield, Thatayaone Kgamanyane and Thabo Maponda leading the attack. More will also be expected Alford Velaphi and Tatenda Gora, the only Reds players to finish all 11 games this season.
The Reds are on a four-game winning run and what should have been their fifth league encounter against Tafic was postponed due to bad weather conditions on December 21, 2024. United sit in third place, a point behind Township Rollers and five points away from leaders Tafic FC. Losses or draws for Popa and Tafic would see Moloi’s men topping the 16-member log table.
Popa, as Rollers are called affectionately, meet Mochudi Centre Chiefs at Royal Aria Stadium on Saturday, January 4, 2025, whereas Tafic date UF Santos as Nico United welcome Matebele on the same day
