Botswana’s senior national football team coach Morena Ramoreboli has made a classy gesture on the Zebras’ top striker Tumisang Orebonye following his latest milestone.

Orebonye secured a dream transfer to Morocco’s Botola side Wydad Casablanca earlier this week, switching from Al Ittihad in Libya on a three-year contract.

The Motsana international is a respected footballer in North Africa owing to his achievements that include winning the CAF Confederations Cup and CAF Super Cup with USM Alger in Algeria.

Such achievements compelled Wydad Casablanca to come with an open cheque to complete the transfer of the 29-year-old on Wednesday.

Now, Ramoreboli has hailed Orebonye as a typical example of how the Zebras’ players ought to follow.

The former Bafana Bafana mentor praised the striker while naming a 27-member squad for the forthcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“We need to celebrate Mr Orebonye and also understand that it is not always easy for one to leave the country, go and make a mark like Mr Orebonye did,” Ramoreboli he said before the news about the player’s transfer to Casablanca was known.

“Maybe very soon you will hear the news that he has signed for another team. I am proud of him. He is a true example. I wish all our players learned from him. He is forever humble, always willing to learn and always willing to assist. That is the attitude that is making him a great person. I would ask you to clap hands for him and celebrate.”

Orebonye joined his fourth club in North Africa since leaving Gaborone United in 2018.
