Botswana’s FNB Premier League side Sua Flamingoes Football Club, has trashed talk that it had fallen out with head coach Nikola Kavazovic.
The rumour mill has been awash with talk that the relationship between the two parties was strained, a development attributed to the 49-year-old’s absence from the last two league matches.
However, Flamingoes has refuted the reports, insisting the Serb was still their man in charge of the team. The club attributed his recent absence from the technical bench to an illness.
“Coach Kavazovic was sidelined due to health-related issues, and we are pleased to confirm that he has since made a full recovery. Contrary to recent media allegations, there has been no rift or separation. He has resumed his duties and will be back on the bench for our final match of the season against Extension Gunners,” the team’s statement reads.
“We would also like to highlight that the club and Coach Kavazovic have a long-term agreement. Both parties remain fully committed to a shared vision of growth and success, and we look forward to building on the progress made this season as we wrap up and prepare for the new campaign.”
The coach was absent when Flamingoes beat Morupule Wanderers 3-2 on Saturday to bounce back from a 3-1 loss to Township Rollers the previous weekend.
Placed third, seven points behind champions-designate Gaborone United, Flamingoes wind up the season with an away fixture at Extension Gunners on Saturday.
