Former Mali youth international Boubacar Konte has signed for Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan.

The attacking midfielder, who is affectionately referred to as “Boubou Konté”, joins Beijing Guoan from Georgian side FC Dila Gori where he had spent two seasons.

The former Étoiles du Mandé midfielder arrives at the Worker’s Stadium with several years of European experience having played in Norway, Denmark, Portugal and Georgia.

Boubcar Konte won Africa U-20 with Mali in 2019

The 24-year-old was a member of Mali’s U-20 squad that won its first youth tournament at the 2019 Africa Youth Championship hosted by Niger with a 3-2 penalty shootouts win over Senegal after a 1-1 draw in full-time.

At FC Dila Gori, Konte was crowned with the Georgian Super Cup and the Georgian Cup titles in 2025.

He previously played for Norway sides Jerv, Sarpsborg and Fredrikstad as well as Portuguese club Nacional and Danish side Nordsjaelland at the U-19 level before signing for Dila Gori.

His move to Beijing Guoan is reportedly valued at €650,000 with the club set to begin the Chinese Super League season with a minus five points as teams from the 9th spot will start the campaign with points deductions due to a massive anti-corruption crackdown involving match-fixing and bribery.
