Bouna Sarr: FC Metz set to sign defender

Senegal defender Bouna Sarr will head to French Ligue 1 club Metz after being without a club since leaving German giants Bayern Munich in 2024.

The 34-year-old could be reuniting with Metz where he spent a combined eight-year period between the second and first team respectively.

Bouna Sarr has been training with the bottom club for the past three months since leaving the Bavarians and reliable reports in France indicate that the right-back has impressed the club’s technical team led by new tactician, Benoît Tavenot who was appointed last year.

Bouna Sarr won Europa League with Marseille

Deep throat source from Metz says the former Olympique de Marseille player signed with the Grenats on Saturday but the Ligue 1 strugglers are yet to fully make an official announcement.

Metz, who are currently bottom of Ligue 1 and coming off another defeat to Angers (1–0), have decided to gamble with Bouna Sarr who is yet to play an official match since November 11, 2023.

Bouna Sarr won the Europa League with Olympique Marseille before scooping three Bundesliga titles, a FIFA Club World Cup and the DFL Super Cup. He was a member of the Senegal senior team won the nation’s first Africa Cup of Nations in 2021 in Cameroon.
