Real Madrid had no issues on Sunday despite an early red card against Mexican club Pachuca at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Brahim Díaz assisted for the Spanish giants as they cruised to a 3-1 Group H victory at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Halftime substitute Díaz helped Real move out of reach in 70th minute when Federico Valverde initiated a brilliant combination with the Morocco national team star. The return pass from Díaz was perfect to find the run of Valverde who volleyed in to make it 3-0.
First half goals from Jude Bellingham and Arda Güler put Real well on their way to victory despite a 7th minute red card issued to Raúl Asencio. Goalkeeper Thibault Courtois was kept busy throughout the match but Pachuca failed to make their numerical advantage count while Real was brutally efficient on their opportunities.
Real still have some work to do. They finish up play in Group H against Red Bull Salzburg on Thursday and may need to avoid defeat to qualify for the Round of 16. Salzburg will face Saudi club Al-Hilal, who played Real to a 1-1 draw in their opening match, later on Sunday.
For Díaz, his role continues to be that of a super substitute. The Spanish-Moroccan provided his first goal contribution since March 4 when he produced a Man of the Match performance against rivals Atlético Madrid. He now has 6 goals and 7 assists from 52 appearances in all competitions for Real this season.
