Brahim Diaz revives historic AFCON feat as Morocco beat Zambia

Morocco international Brahim Diaz recreated a long-absent achievement in the Africa Cup of Nations, after finding the net against Zambia in the group stage of AFCON 2025.

Morocco cruised to a 3-0 victory over Zambia on Monday, in the third round of the group stage, securing the group standings top spot and a place in the round of 16.

Diaz played a key role in the win, helping the Atlas Lions establish a 2-0 lead in the first half. The Real Madrid forward scored Morocco’s second goal.

Brahim Diaz Revives Ahmed Faras’ Historic Record

Diaz struck in the 27th minute, finishing from inside the penalty area after an assist from Abdessamad Ezzalzouli.

The goal took Diaz’s tally to three goals at AFCON 2025, having now scored in three consecutive matches. He opened his account against Comoros in the first round, followed it up with a goal against Mali in the second round, before completing the streak against Zambia.

With this achievement, Brahim Diaz becomes only the second player in history to score in three successive AFCON matches for Morocco, following former forward Ahmed Feras, who accomplished the feat twice, in 1972 and 1976.
