Breaking: Kenya striker Michael Olunga leaves Al-Duhail

Qatar Stars League outfit Al-Duhail have confirmed the exit of Harambee Stars striker Michael Olunga and wished him well on his next move.

A statement from the club confirmed Olunga’s departure:

Towering striker Olunga joined Duhail in 2021 on a three-season contract, for a reported transfer fee of €6 million. He made his debut for the club on January 12, in a 3-1 away loss against Al Sadd. The now 31-year-old previously starred with Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol before making his big-money move to Qatar.

On 25 January 2021, Olunga scored a hat-trick in Duhail’s 6-0 win against Al Ahli in the Emir of Qatar Cup Olunga finished as the top scorer of the 2021 AFC Champions League, but Al-Duhail crashed out of the competition after a 1-1 draw with Al Ahli SC of Saudi Arabia in late April that year.
