Brentford FC captain Christian Norgaard has admitted that he expects Cameroonian striker Bryan Mbeumo to leave the club, but he is unsure about his Congolese counterpart Yoane Wissa.
In an interview with Sky Sports Television, the Brentford FC skipper shared his thoughts on the African duo’s future at the Premier League team. Nonetheless, he said he was calm amid all the speculation about the duo’s imminent departure.
“I am pretty calm about what might happen with Bryan and Wissa because a lot of questions are being asked about them. You can almost feel the worries among the players when you talk about them leaving the club,” he said.
Norgaard added that Thomas Frank’s team has plan B in case Mbeumo and Wissa leave.
“The club is so talented in recruitment; always being two steps ahead. Brentford has been good at keeping new players for more than one season,” he said.
“It is not like one season and they go away. Bryan came at the same time as me six years ago, and Wissa when we got promoted four years ago, so he has been here and that is important. It is not just in and out.”
The Brentford skipper said there are strong indications that Mbeumo might leave, but the same cannot be said about Wissa.
“Whatever will happen, Bryan is likely to go. I don’t know Wissa. I hope he might stay. Either way, I am happy for the season they have had. They deserve so much,” he added.
Mbeumo and Wissa have been in red-hot form this season, scoring 18 Premier League goals, making them the hottest strike partnership this campaign.
