Brentford young defender Benjamin Fredrick has replaced Chrisantus Uche, who has failed to join the Super Eagles camp in London for the invitational Unity Cup.
Uche, who enjoyed a breakout first season in the Spanish La Liga side Getafe, was named on the squads for both the Unity Cup in London as well as the Russia friendly, but has been a no show in camp.
Reports have it that the forward has not found his way to the Super Eagles training camp in London due because he has yet to be granted an entry visa to the United Kingdom.
As a result Brentford's Fredrick was called up and had reportedly trained with the Super Eagles on Thursday Night with the team. Super Eagles will take on Jamaica in the Unity Cup final Saturday after they outscored arch-rivals Ghana 2-1 in midweek.
The highly promising central defender Fredrick has been outstanding for Brentford U21s this past season that he bagged the Young Player of the Season award. He shone at the 2023 U20 World Cup in Argentina, where the Flying Eagles reached the quarterfinal.
It is now left to be seen whether Uche, could also make the trip to Russia for the historic friendly in Moscow on June 6, or if Fredrick would be flying down with the Super Eagles for the match.
