Malick Yalcouyé will return to Brighton and Hove Albion after a spectacular season on loan with Austrian Bundesliga top side SK Sturm Graz. The 19-year-old midfielder won the Bundesliga's Newcomer of the Year award for his performances with the reigning champions who are on the verge of retaining their title.

The Malian-born central midfielder played a key role throughout the campaign with his excellent ability on the ball, initiating attacks while also showing improvement in the final third. Sturm Graz have one more match at home against Wolfsberger on Saturday where they will clinch the title with a draw or victory.

Brighton may have plans for Yalcouyé next season in a team that is becoming known as a perfect developing ground for African players. The former ASEC Mimosas player certainly has the pace and work rate to thrive in the Premier League after an ideal season on loan in Austria. Yalcouyé scored four goals and provided an assist in 35 appearances, also showing well in the UEFA Champions League with Sturm Graz.

Yalcouyé is still undecided about his international future. He is eligible for both Mali and Ivory Coast and has been previously called up by Ivory Coast at the under-20 level. However, the possibility remains of Yalcouyé playing for Mali if called to the senior national team.
