Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has announced that Orlando Pirates defender Nkosinathi Sibisi will captain the national team for the two upcoming international friendly matches against Tanzania and Mozambique in June.

Broos unveiled his 23-member Bafana squad on Thursday, May 29, at the SABC television studios in Auckland Park. Notably, the squad excludes Mamelodi Sundowns players who are set to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States from June 14 to July 13, 2025.

South Africa will first face Tanzania at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Friday, June 6, with kick-off at 7:30 PM. The SA National Team reported for camp in Johannesburg on Sunday, June 1, before travelling to Polokwane, where they held their first training session this afternoon at Ranch Resort.

Broos expressed confidence in Sibisi's leadership, citing his experience and respect within the squad as key factors in his decision.

"We had to search for a little bit. But I think with Nkosinathi Sibisi, we have a good captain," said Broos. "He is an experienced player and has been with Bafana since I have been here. He is somebody who has respect for everybody. So, I think he is a good player to replace Ronwen Williams."

The second friendly match against Mozambique will take place at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. The kick-off time for this encounter is yet to be confirmed.
