South Africa will face Ghana in an international friendly as part of their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place in Morocco.
Bafana Bafana were drawn into a challenging AFCON group alongside Egypt, Angola, and Zimbabwe, making the December preparations crucial.
The South African Football Association confirmed that the friendly will be held on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, in the Gauteng province at a venue that will be announced in the coming days.
Head coach Hugo Broos and his squad will travel to Morocco the day after the match to continue their final phase of preparations for the continental tournament.
Broos had previously stated that he preferred not to play additional friendlies before the team’s departure, but the Ghana match was scheduled as their final tune-up.
Ghana failed to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in over two decades, but qualified to the World Cup 2026 and were drawn in a group featuring England, Croatia, and Panama.
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will run from 21 December 2025 to January 2026 in Morocco.
