Bruno Langa returns to Portuguese football on loan

Left back Bruno Langa will return to the Portuguese Primeira Liga after a two-year absence following the announcement of his loan transfer to Estrela da Amadora from LaLiga 2 club Almería.

The Mozambique national team star joins for his second loan of the 2025-26 season after failing to make an impact at Cypriot club Pafos FC during the first half of the campaign. He made 18 appearances during his time in Cyprus, including 11 appearances in the UEFA Champions League.

However, he only made one start at Pafos and was substituted at halftime in a Cypriot First League defeat against Apollon Limassol back in August. Langa’s latest move comes two days after his loan to Pafos was terminated.

A left back with a strong engine who enjoys getting forward down the flank, Langa continued to be a key player for his country despite his struggles at Pafos. He started all four of the Mambas’ matches at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco as Mozambique exited at the Round of 16 stage following a defeat to Nigeria.

His last spell in Portugal came with Chaves, where he spent three successful seasons between 2021 and 2024. After gaining promotion from the Liga Portugal 2 during his first season at the club, he helped the club maintain their top flight status the following season before moving on loan to Almería midway through the 2023-24 season and joining the club permanently after they were relegated to LaLiga 2.

Langa’s early career was spent at prominent Mozambican clubs CD Maxaquene and Black Bulls. After joining Bulls, he gained his first experience in European club football on loan at Amora in the Portuguese third tier. Teammates with fellow Mozambique star Geny Catamo at the club, he spent two seasons at the club with partial Mozambican ownership before eventually joining Chaves.

He has 37 appearances and 1 goal with Mozambique. Estrela are currently in 12th place on the 18-team Primeira Liga table, five points out of relegation danger. Their next match is on Saturday at home against Santa Clara.
