BUL FC have officially ended their association with head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko following a prolonged dip in form that has left the club struggling in the Uganda Premier League.
The decision was communicated in a statement released on Wednesday by club Chief Executive Officer Joseph Mutaka, who explained that management carried out a thorough assessment of the team’s performances, which ultimately failed to meet the club’s technical and competitive standards.
The move comes in the aftermath of a 3-1 defeat to Police FC at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Monday, a result that compounded BUL’s woes. That loss extended their losing run to five matches, with earlier defeats coming against Vipers SC, KCCA FC, Entebbe UPDF and Kitara FC.
As a result of the poor sequence, the Eastern Giants have slipped to 12th on the league table with just 10 points collected so far.
Kikomeko departs barely months after committing his future to the club, having signed a two-year contract extension in July that was meant to keep him at BUL until the end of the 2026/27 season. He had initially taken charge in June 2023.
The club also confirmed that the entire technical bench has been stood down, including assistant coach Simeone Masaba. In the interim, junior team coaches Daniel Kabaale, Michael Ssebagala, Kenneth Magada and Fred Batwala will jointly oversee first-team duties as the search for a substantive head coach begins.
Meanwhile, former BUL boss Alex Isabirye has already been mentioned as a strong candidate for the vacant role. Isabirye was recently dismissed by URA FC and previously left BUL in March 2023 for Vipers SC, where he enjoyed notable success, winning both the league title and the Uganda Cup.
