Uganda Premier League side BUL FC is set to part ways with head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko at the end of the ongoing 2024/25 season.
The decision follows Kikomeko’s recent six-month suspension by FUFA for attacking match officials during BUL’s Stanbic Uganda Cup quarterfinal loss to Kitara FC in April.
His actions during that heated contest are said to have deeply disappointed the club’s top brass, according to Swift Sports Uganda. Sources further indicate that the Jinja-based outfit is already in the process of identifying a suitable replacement to take charge ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Kikomeko took over the reins at BUL FC at the start of the 2023/24 season and quickly made an impact, guiding the Eastern Giants to a second-place league finish behind champions SC Villa.
In the current campaign, BUL FC sit third on the table with 49 points and four matches left to play. Despite his recent controversies, Kikomeko has had a respectable coaching journey.
Prior to joining BUL FC, he managed Kirinya Jinja SS (now Busoga United) and Mbale Heroes FC. BUL FC’s next league assignment will be a crucial clash against second-placed NEC FC at the MTN Omondi Stadium on Wednesday, 7th May 2025.
