BUL vs Maroons – FTC, Njeru
Entebbe UPPC vs Lugazi – Bugonga Fisheries Ground, Entebbe
BUL FC assistant coach Simeone Masaba is confident his side can find the back of the net when they host Maroons in their second Uganda Premier League outing at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
The Eastern Giants were frustrated in their opening fixture, drawing 0-0 with URA at the same venue. Masaba believes the team has learned from that encounter and will come back stronger.

“It wasn’t the start we wanted, but we take lessons from it,” Masaba said while reflecting on the goalless draw.
“We have prepared well, reviewed what we lacked against URA, and worked on converting our chances. The encouraging part is that we created opportunities, so now it’s about execution.”
BUL will have to do without defender Thomas Ochungo and midfielder Richard Okello, who are sidelined with injuries. Striker Karim Ndugwa—who scored the winner in this fixture last season—remains a doubt despite featuring in their opener.
Meanwhile, Maroons FC kick off their season after their scheduled opener against NEC was postponed due to NEC’s involvement in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Luzira-based side begins a new chapter under head coach Umar Abdalla Loi, who steps in for Muhammad Ssenfuma, now serving as assistant coach. Despite limited transfer activity, Maroons have retained the core of last season’s squad that finished eighth with 43 points.
History slightly favors BUL at Njeru. Ndugwa’s strike secured a narrow 1-0 victory in last season’s league meeting, while in the recent FUFA Super Eight, BUL eliminated Maroons 3-1 on aggregate after a goalless first leg.
Maroons, however, showed resilience in the tournament, edging KCCA in classification before eventually settling for sixth after falling to Express FC. Both sides will be eager to make a statement, with BUL chasing their first win of the season and Maroons looking to begin their campaign on a high.
