Ahead of the match, Mponda, who led Silver to their first league title last season before rejoining Bullets, said he expected the Bankers to come for a revenge. Peter Mgangira’s team lost 1-0 to the leaders in the first round.
“Of course, the pressure is and has always been there. Yes, we beat them 1-0 in the first round, but that wasn’t the only victory. We also beat them in the Airtel Top 8 cup final,” Mponda told the club’s website.
The former Flames captain insisted that despite expecting a difficult game against Silver, he was optimistic of getting a good result.
“We know Silver Strikers are the defending champions, and they will give us a tough game, but we believe that by the end of 90 minutes, we will carry the day,” the coach insisted.
The Bullets coach has a near full-strength squad save for attacker Chrispin Mapemba who is injured. Another forward Peter Banda is yet to attain full fitness, but he is expected to have some minutes on Sunday.
