Bundesliga: Chaïbi scores and assists for Frankfurt; Diomande continues sensational season

Yan Diomande and Farès Chaïbi both played roles in the victories of their clubs on Sunday in the Bundesliga, with Diomande providing the match winning goal for RB Leipzig while Chaïbi collected a goal and an assist for Eintracht Frankfurt.

After a strong first half of the 2025-26 season, Algeria national team attacker Chaïbi experienced a dip in form after returning from 2025 Africa Cup of Nations duty with Les Verts. But on Sunday, he came off the bench to play a massive role to help Frankfurt overcome Freiburg’s strong defense in a 2-0 home victory.

Following a scoreless first half, Chaïbi came on in the 64th minute and made an instant impact when he received a pass from Nnamdi Collins and fired a low shot past Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu.

In the 81st minute, the Algerian collected the ball on the left wing and lifted a clever pass into the path of Jean-Matteo Bahoya who produced a brilliant looping finish over Atubolu to secure the result.

In the final match on Sunday, Diomande helped RB Leipzig put away a firm challenge from hosts Hamburg in a 2-1 result for the visitors.

With the match even at 1-1 following the first half, the Ivorian starlet collected a pass from Rômulo Cardoso and slalomed his way through the HSV defense before finishing. The 19-year-old now has 9 goals and 5 assists in 23 matches on his debut Bundesliga campaign and has goal contributions in each of his last three matches.
