Buruk on why Galatasaray are always scared to release Nigeria star Osimhen

Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has openly claimed they find it difficult to release star striker Victor Osimhen for Nigeria international duty.

The 26-year-old was part of the Super Eagles squad who reached the playoff of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He was the star hero in the game against Benin at Godswill Akpabio Stadium after he scored a hat-trick.

Osimhen also featured in the matchday nine fixture against Lesotho at Peter Mokaba Stadium which Nigeria won 1-0 but he was not the target. William Troost-Ekong and new boy Akor Adams scored for the Super Eagles.

During the previous campaign, Osimhen injured his leg against Rwanda and he was forced to miss the qualifier against South Africa. On returning to Turkey, he missed a couple of matches including the team’s Champions League opener Eintracht Frankfurt which they lost 5-1 away.

‘Galatasaray always scared to release Osimhen’

“Well, we are starting to get scared when we send Osimhen to the national team, not just because his plane window might break,” Buruk said as quoted by Habersarikirmizi via Daily Post.

“Also, the toughness of the match, the bad pitches, every time we send him off, we are afraid for the players. We are always scared, actually.

“We finished the match this time, but there was a problem with the plane. We were a little scared when we saw the news, but it’s nothing serious. He will play the second match and return.”

Osimhen will hope to be fit and available for their next Turkish Super Lig clash against İstanbul Başakşehir F.K. at Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium on Saturday.
