Simba SC will use a chartered flight from the Tanzanian government for their trip to Morocco to face RS Berkane in the first leg final of the CAF Confederation Cup at Stade Municipal de Berkane on Saturday, May 17.

The Tanzanian Minister for Information, Culture, Art and Sports Prof Palamagamba Kabudi confirmed in parliament in Dodoma, that on behalf of the government led by President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Msimbazi Reds will use a chartered plane to Morocco.

“After the great success of Simba and qualifying for their first-ever final of the Confederation Cup organised by CAF, Simba is going to Morocco to face RS Berkane and the Tanzanian government led by President Samia has decided to give out a plane that will take Simba to Morocco for that game,” said Kabudi.

According to Kabudi, the decision was made as part of the government’s efforts to reduce Simba’s travel expenses and keep the players fresh from fatigue before they enter the pitch for the historic fixture.

The Dar es Salaam-based giants made history by reaching the final of the inter-club competition after a 1-0 aggregate win over South African side Stellenbosch FC. Simba secured a crucial 1-0 victory in the first leg at home before holding the Stellies to a 0-0 draw in the return leg in South Africa.

The return leg is set for May 25 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
