The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially referred the incidents that occurred during the CAF Champions League clash between Al Ahly SC and AS FAR to its Disciplinary Committee.

The match, played on Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Cairo, ended in a goalless draw in the sixth and final round of the group stage. However, the game was temporarily halted after some Al Ahly supporters threw water bottles toward players of the Moroccan side.

In an official statement released on Monday, CAF strongly condemned what it described as “unacceptable incidents” that took place during the fixture.

CAF stated:

“The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) strongly condemns the unacceptable incidents which took place during the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League fixture between Al Ahly of Egypt and ASFAR of Morocco in Cairo on Sunday, 15 February 2026.”

The statement concluded:

“CAF has referred the matter to the Disciplinary Board for investigation and has called for appropriate action to be taken against those proven responsible.”

Notably, AS FAR had already issued an official protest regarding the behavior of Al Ahly’s supporters, and called for sanctions to be imposed in order to preserve sporting spirit principles and ensure the safety of all participants.
