Uganda’s CAF Confederation Cup representatives, NEC FC, are set to make their historic debut in continental football when they host Kenya’s Nairobi United FC in the preliminary round first leg at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on Saturday, 20th September 2025.
The encounter will mark NEC FC’s maiden appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup, a milestone for the Bugolobi-based side. Nakivubo, which earlier this year received CAF approval to host major continental tournaments, will provide the stage for this much-anticipated clash.
Both NEC FC and Nairobi United will be featuring in the competition for the first time, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the tie. The aggregate winner will progress to face either Sudan’s Al Ahli Madani or Tunisia’s ES Sportive in the first round.
The return leg is scheduled for Saturday, 27th September 2025, at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, with kickoff set for 4:00 PM local time.
NEC secured their place in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup after finishing second in the Uganda Premier League last season, just two points behind champions Vipers SC, who had already claimed a Cup double to earn Uganda’s CAF Champions League slot.
