Esperance Sportive de Tunis progressed to the CAF Champions League group stage without issue on Sunday following a 3-0 second leg victory over Burkina Faso’s Rahimo FC.
Florian Danho was among the scorers for the Blood and Gold as they dispatched the Burkinabe champions to complete a 4-0 aggregate victory in Tunis. The French goal scoring sensation doubled the hosts’ lead early in the second half after previously scoring the only goal in the first leg victory in Ouagadougou.
Hamza Jelassi opened the scoring with a header from a corner kick in the 33rd minute to put the Tunisian champions two goals ahead on the aggregate score. Achref Jabri confirmed the decisive victory later on in the second half after Danho’s fierce strike into the top corner.
The 2024-25 Champions League quarterfinalists have high expectations this season after conquering all domestic competitions in Tunisian football last season. Esperance will discover their group stage opponents when the draw is conducted on November 3.
