CAF Confederation Cup: AFAD Plateau revival eliminates Generation Foot

Ivorian club AFAD Plateau scored four goals in the final half hour to eliminate famous Senegalese club Generation Foot 6-4 on aggregate in the CAF Confederation Cup.

A remarkable own goal sent Senegal’s most famous developer of young talents out of continental competition as the visitors completely collapsed at the Stade Alassane Ouattara in Abidjan.

After struggling to a 1-1 draw at home in the first leg, Generation Foot got off to a dream start when Abdourahmane Mbodj scored twice in quick succession to give the visitors a substantial advantage in the aggregate score as well as away goals. The continental journey continues for AFAD, who qualified for the competition by virtue of finishing third in the Ligue 1 Côte d’Ivoire. They will now face USM Alger of Algeria in the final round for a test of the highest magnitude.
