There is a three-way tie at the top of Group B in the CAF Confederation Cup after Tanzania’s Azam FC edged Congolese visitors AS Maniema Union 1-0 in Zanzibar.
After a heroic performance last weekend in Morocco against Wydad AC, Maniema Union goalkeeper Detan Ogundare made a costly error when he allowed Sadio Kanouté’s 24th minute header to sneak through his arms for the only goal.
It was a disappointing result for the Congolese club, who looked like the more dangerous team for long stretches and had a potential equalizer disallowed. The two foes are now both level with Wydad on nine points each.
However, Maniema Union hold the advantage over the Tanzanian club in the head-to-head record due to their 2-0 victory in the DRC earlier in the group stage.

Wydad are heavy favorites to seize sole control of first place when they face Nairobi United, who have yet to claim a point in the CAF Confederation Cup, in Kenya on Sunday.
The victory is crucial for Azam but they will need to earn at least a point in Casablanca next weekend while needing help from hapless Nairobi United when the Kenyan club travels to Kinshasa in the other Group B finale.
