CAF Confederation Cup: Head coach Chaabani confident as RS Berkane gear up for Simba clash

RS Berkane coach Mouin Chaabani says his charges are ready to face Simba SC in the 2025 CAF Confederation Cup final first leg. The Moroccan champions are the favorites to win the competition after finishing as runners-up last season.

Chaabani stated they are ready to play Simba: “We are very happy to be present as a finalist in the Confederation Cup for the second consecutive season. It is an honor for us, and it would be a great pride for us to win this championship. That is naturally our ambition. Today we finished the final preparations for the final match. God willing, the boys are ready. Hopefully, tomorrow all the factors will be in our favor, and we will be in top form during those 90 minutes. We will try to finish the match with a comfortable result.”

The Tunisian coach added they know the threat Simba poses when the two sides meet in the final: “We have good monitoring of the Simba team. The truth is, they are a team that knows how to travel and win matches. In the match where they beat Sfaxien, Sfaxien wasn’t in their best form. But that game might have been a wake-up call for them to learn lessons and fix their mistakes.”

Chaabani won the CAF Champions League twice as a coach with Esperance in 2018 and 2019. His RS Berkane side reached the final of the Confederation Cup last season but lost to Zamalek. Berkane have reached the final in three of the last six editions of the Confederation Cup now, winning the 2019-20 and 2021-22 editions.
