The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled the match ball for the upcoming TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.
The prestigious continental tournament will be hosted by Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, featuring 24 national teams competing for Africa’s most coveted title.
CAF shared a video of the new ball across its Facebook account, accompanied by the caption: “The beating heart of Africa.”
Named “ITRI” — meaning “star” in Amazigh (Berber) language — the ball, according to CAF, draws inspiration from Morocco’s centuries-old zellij art form – renowned for its intricate geometric mosaics – whilst symbolising the unity and passion of African football across the continent. The name also pays tribute to the star featured on the Moroccan flag and reflects the star patterns that hold significance in traditional zellij craftsmanship.
The ITRI ball will make its official debut in the opening match of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, marking the beginning of another competitive chapter in African football history.
