The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially postponed Al Ahly's CAF Champions League group stage match against Algeria's CR Belouizdad. Originally scheduled for December 13 or 14, the Group C clash will now take place on December 22 at 6:00 PM Cairo time at the Cairo International Stadium.
This decision comes as Al Ahly is set to participate in the semifinals of the 2024 Intercontinental Cup on December 14. Should the Egyptian giants advance, they would face another crucial match in the tournament's final on December 18, leaving little room for their Champions League commitments.
Previously, CAF had designated December 13 and 14 for all group stage matchday 3 fixtures in the Champions League. However, Al Ahly's involvement in the global competition necessitated this adjustment to their schedule.
As a result of the rescheduled CAF match, the Egyptian Premier League fixture between Al Ahly and Smouha, originally set for December 22, has also been postponed.
Al Ahly will begin their group stage campaign tomorrow, Tuesday, against Stade d’Abidjan at 6:00 PM Cairo time at the Cairo International Stadium.
