CAF confirms dates and venues for Uganda AFCON group fixtures

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially released the full schedule and venues for the group stage matches of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to be hosted by Morocco between December 21, 2025, and January 18, 2026.

This edition will mark Uganda Cranes’ return to the continental showpiece after missing out on the previous two tournaments in 2021 and 2023. The Cranes last featured at AFCON 2019 in Egypt, where they reached the Round of 16.

Drawn in Group C, Uganda will face a tough test against two former champions, Nigeria and Tunisia, as well as regional rivals Tanzania.

Head coach Paul Put and his charges will begin their campaign against 2004 winners Tunisia on Tuesday, December 23, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Olympic Annex Stadium in Rabat.

Four days later, Uganda will renew its East African rivalry with Tanzania on Saturday, December 27, at Al Barid Stadium, also in Rabat. The Cranes will then wrap up their group stage fixtures with a decisive encounter against three-time champions Nigeria on Tuesday, December 30, at the Fez Stadium in Fez.

The team will be making its eighth AFCON appearance, with their most memorable run coming in 1978, when they reached the final before falling to Ghana.
