Asante Kotoko only have a slim chance of qualifying for the second preliminary round of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup provided they protect their 4-3 lead against Kwara United.
The Ghana FA Cup champions managed to squeeze a 4-3 win over the Nigeria Federation Cup holders in the first leg preliminary round at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 21.
The return leg is set for the MKO Moshood Abiola Stadium with the winner of both legs progressing to the second phase of the competition.
Kotoko striker, Albert Amoah remains confident that, the two time African champions will be able to pull a surprise in Nigeria on Sunday, September 28.
“I think for the past two games that we have played, we haven’t conceded and this is the first time we are conceding three goals”.” Albert Amoah told the media after their game against Kwara United.
“I think no one knows they will be coming here to score three goals so it’s game and we can also go there and prove them wrong.
“We are not giving up and I think we are going there to qualify.” Albert Amoah added.
Asante Kotoko must keep the 4-3 score line or get more goals to ward off Kwara United’s chances of going past them. The challenge however looks daunting considering the manner in which they conceded three goals at home.
