South Africa’s Premier Soccer League outfit Kaizer Chiefs should brace for a hostile atmosphere in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) this weekend.
With the Glamour Boys set to face AS Simba on Saturday, it has emerged that the Linafoot league side has ganged up with their rivals TP Mazembe to ensure a big crowd patronises the CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round match.
The titans will slug it out at TP Mazembe Stadium in Lubumbashi.
Ahead of the game, Simba’s vice-chairman Christian Mwanda has urged the supporters to fill up the stadium and become a 12th player ensuring the stadium vibrates on Saturday.
“This Saturday is more than a game,” Mwanda said via a video shared on Simba’s social media pages.
“It is a historic moment for our club and for the whole province. To all supporters, your presence is our strength. Come out massively dressed in red and white, let’s make our voices heard and support our Kamikazes to victory. The African dream continues, together nothing is impossible.”
Mazembe’s supporters’ coordinator Mario Kawel has since assured Simba that the Ravens’ faithful will turn up in large numbers at the stadium on Saturday.
Leaders of Mazembe’s supporters have since taken heed of Simba’s call by urging the Ravens’ followers to fill up the stadium and rally behind Simba on Saturday.
Match day tickets can be bought from the venue of the match at Kolwezi: Junction of Bondo and Seke Banza avenues.
Chiefs have since named the 22-man delegation heading to the DRC for the first-leg clash against AS Simba.
Amakhosi advanced to the second round after easing past Angolan club Kabuscorp SCP 5-4 on post-match penalties following a 1-1 draw in regulation time of the first preliminary round. AS Simba cruised to the next round after overcoming Djabal Club d’Iconi of Comoros with an aggregate score of 3-0.
