CAFCC: Galaxy arrive in Zambia with mind-game for ZESCO United game

Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy FC have touched down in Zambia full of mind games ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup meeting with ZESCO United on Saturday.

Galaxy travelled with their available strong squad for the second preliminary round match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium under the tutelage of coach Sean Connor.

The visitors arrived at Ndola’s Simon Mwansa Kapwewe International Airport on Thursday at 12:35 aboard Airlink. Galaxy were welcomed by ZESCO’s Head of Human Capital and Administration Mr Moses Mwiya and some FAZ officials.

Before departure for the neighbouring country, Connor played mind-games, suggesting that ZESCO are the favourites to go through.

What Jwaneng Galaxy coach Sean Connor earlier said

“It’s going to be a very tight game, like most of these games are. We will make sure we keep ourselves in the tie. I would say ZESCO are the favourites to go through,” Connor is quoted as saying by Bola News of Zambia.

Galaxy booked their place in the second preliminary round after seeing off Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers 7-6 on post-match penalties after a one-all tie over two legs.

Wanderers won 1-0 at home before losing on the road by a similar margin and paved the way for the post-match penalties.

ZESCO, on the other hand, defeated FC 105 of Gabon 5-2 on aggregate to progress to the pre-group stage of the Confederations Cup. Galaxy will welcome ZESCO at Obed Chilume Stadium in Francistown on the weekend of 24 to 26 October 2025.
