Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy FC say veteran striker Onkabetse Makgantai’s experience gained from South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs would prove handy in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The former FBN Premiership champions have highlighted the importance of the former South Africa’s Baroka FC player ahead their participation in the continental cup’s first round matches against Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers.

“Makgantai is a seasoned campaigner who has tested his craft beyond Botswana’s borders. From the PSL with Baroka FC to the intensity of continental giants AS Vita Club (DRC), Major has carried the Botswana’s flag with pride and power,” a statement from Galaxy reads.

“His international experience will be a key weapon as we head into the CAF TotalEnergies CAF Champions League & Confederation Cup against Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers Football.”

The 30-year-old also had stints with Orapa United, Gaborone United, TAFIC FC and Nico United Sporting Club in Botswana’s league. Wanderers welcome Galaxy in the first leg on the weekend of September 19-21, 2025.

The second leg match will take place in Gaborone on the weekend of September 26-28 2025.
