Dramane Kamagaté is the leading scorer in the 2025-26 CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC) after his two goals on Sunday gave Ivory Coast’s FC San Pedro a 2-0 victory over Malian club Djoliba in Group A action.
The 20-year-old continued his emergence as a player to watch in the competition with two instinctive finishes at the Stade Laurent Pokou to give the reigning Coupe de Côte d’Ivoire champions their first three points in Group A.
The hosts overwhelmed the visitors from Mali and took a decisive lead in the opening half hour. Kamagaté sent the home support into jubilation in the 21st minute when he dove to meet Issouf Dosso’s cross with a powerful header past goalkeeper Wilfried Kouassi.
And eight minutes later, the goal scorer doubled his tally to finish off an impressive team movement. Left back Ibrahima Touré found space on the flank and cut past a defender before playing a pass into the penalty area to find Kamagaté. The striker placed a perfect shot past Kouassi into the top corner and the hosts were well on their way to three points.
The visitors showed some signs of improvement in the second half but struggled to keep control of the ball. Without a credible threat to the San Pedro goal, the hosts held on to move themselves back into contention in Group A, level on three points with Morocco’s Olympique de Safi and three points back of group leaders USM Alger.
The Ivorian club will focus on domestic duties until Group A resumes play in late January when San Pedro will host Olympique de Safi. Djoliba, in last place with zero points from two matches, will travel to face USM Alger in Algiers.
