Experienced Ghana striker Abednego Tetteh has written off Asante Kotoko’s chances of going past Wydad Athletic Club in the reverse fixture of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Kotoko suffered a 1-0 loss in the first leg of the second preliminary round at the Accra Sports Stadium last weekend, making the return encounter a mountainous task at the King Mohammed V Stadium on Friday, October 24.
Abednego Tetteh played for top Ghana sides, Bechem United, Hearts of Oak, Gold Stars, Heart of Lions, King Faisal before stints with two Sudanese top sides Al Hila Obeid and Hilal Omdurman.
The 35-year-old believes Asante Kotoko does not stand a chance of beating Wydad Athletic Club to qualify for the group stage of the CAF Confederation.
“I don’t think they [Kotoko] have a chance, I have played against Etoile du Sahel and hours before the game, the stadium was filled to rafters and if you have not seen such fans before, you will be jittery,” Abednego Tetteh told Radio Gold.
“And most of our players [in Ghana] are inexperienced and that is why I support clubs like Bibiani Gold Stars, Samartex and Aduana because they sign experienced players.
The former Jimma Aba Buna, Real Kashmir and TRAU FC attacker has indicated that inexperience plays against the Ghanaian clubs when playing in continental competition.
“However Hearts of Oak and Kotoko have too many young players and that goes against them so I am not sure Kotoko can survive but if they are able to survive I will be happy.”
The winner of both legs qualifies for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, a stage Kotoko have struggled to reach for the past years.
