CAFCC: Kwara United sends apology after Asante Kotoko defeat

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Kwara United have sent an apology to their fans, and stakeholders after they were kicked out of the CAF Confederation Cup at the first round stage on Sunday.

It was Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko, who sealed their place in the next stage of the competition with a hard-fought 1-0 victory, completing a 5-3 aggregate triumph.

The decisive moment came in the 52nd minute when Hubert Gyau found the back of the net.

Kwara United poised to come back stronger

In a statement, the club’s chairman, Kumbi Titiloye described the early exit as painful and regrettable, and pleaded with fans to forgive the team, assuring them Kwara United is determined to bounce back stronger.

“We apologise to our teeming and loyal fans and supporters for this unfortunate result. It was never our plan to crash at this early stage,” he said, adding: “We are poised to come back stronger, make amends in the league, and give our supporters something to cheer about.”

The Harmony Boys went into the fixture needing an outright win to secure a place in the next round.
