CAFCC: Mighty Wanderers jet into Botswana, wary of Jwaneng Galaxy

Mighty Wanderers FC coach Bob Mpinganjira says he is bracing for a difficult game against Jwaneng Galaxy FC in Botswana on Saturday.

The Malawian football legend said this ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round, second leg match against the Botswana’s FNB Premiership giants.

The former top striker has since cautioned his players to forget their first leg advantage after they beat Galaxy 1-0 last weekend through Felix Zulu’s late goal at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

What coach Mpinganjira told Wanderers players about Jwaneng Galaxy

“We now have an idea about our opponents. We saw how they play and we know that they can step up their performance and give us problems, but we are ready for such a situation. It will not be an easy game and that is the message to the players,” Mpinganjira explained.

The Malawi side, which is also called the Nomads, has since arrived in Botswana on a chartered flight ahead of the game.

The return leg will be played at Obert Itani Chilume Stadium in Botswana on September 27.

The Nomads have returned to continental football since 2018 when they were hammered 6-1 on aggregate by Congolese side AS Vita at the same stage of the Confederation Cup.

Earlier, Galaxy coach Sean Connor admitted that Wanderers are a better team than what he thought.

“We now have a better look at Wanderers. I had watched some of their videos. They are a better team than what I was led to believe, but we didn’t underestimate them. As you could see, we were cautious,” he told the media.
