Kenyan Premier League outfit Nairobi United forward Ovella Ochieng has remained confident of returning home from Tunis with a positive result when they face Tunisian giants Etoile Sportive du Sahel in the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The newly promoted side to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League, registered a resounding 2-0 victory in the second preliminary round, first leg fixture at Ulinzi Sports Complex on Sunday.
Ochieng, who is formerly of AFC Leopards, led the way after he scored the opener before Duncan Omalla made it 2-0 in the second half.
Speaking ahead of the Tunis return leg, he told Pulse Sports. “We are going in the right direction. It is a good result because it has been a while since a Kenyan team has gotten to this level. So it would mean a lot.
“My dream was to play in the CAF competitions. We were not able to do that at AFC Leopards, but I am proud to be here because I get to play it this year. It was either that or another adventure abroad.”
He added: “We have a good squad. As much as this stage needs experience, if you are good, you are good. Some of the young players are learning a lot from me and are asking me questions. So I believe we have what it takes.
“It is all about faith. It is not going to be easy. Some of the players are young and have no international experience, but with the coaches we have and the fans pushing us, I am sure we will hit our targets.”
The return leg is slated for Tunis at Stade Olympique de Sousse on Sunday, October 26.
