Former Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane has shared some ‘tips’ with Stellenbosch FC ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal first leg meeting with Zamalek SC on Wednesday afternoon.

Mosimane, who spent over two seasons in Egypt with Zamalek's rivals Al Ahly, visited Stellenbosch to offer encouragement ahead of the Western Cape-based team’s biggest game.

“Three-time CAF Champions League-winning coach Pitso Mosimane shared some words of encouragement with the team ahead of our clash against Zamalek,” Stellenbosch website reads with a picture of Mosimane posing with the club’s coaching staff led by Steve Barker.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Mosimane is jobless after parting ways with Iranian side Esteghlal FC following poor results and a payment dispute barely five months after joining.

Meanwhile, Stellies coach Barker has described meeting Zamalek SC at the Cape Town Stadium as probably the biggest game in the South African club’s brief history. Stellenbosch were founded in 2016 and first gained promotion to South Africa's top flight in 2019.

Barker said Zamalek were at a different level after winning the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup several times; hence, Stellenbosch SC were privileged to take on such opponents.

Stellenbosch FC qualified for the quarterfinals of the CAF Confederation Cup in their maiden campaign with a game to spare following an impressive 2-0 group stage victory over Malian side Stade Malien.
